Q : Does UO-Auction cost me any money?

A : No. UO-Auction is a free site that all UO players are welcome to use. The staff work for free, and the site is paid for by
donations and the sale of gametime.
[Back]

Q : Does UO-Auction have any rules?

A : Yes of course. Without
rules there would be chaos. The rules we have, are there to protect the users and to avoid fraud. It is up to each user to be familiar with the rules of UO-Auction, and breaking them will have consequences. UO-Auction does not tolerate fraud or abuse.
[Back]

Q: How do I register?

A : On the top of the page there is a link labelled
"Register". Click the link and follow the information on the screen. It is important that you fill in all the fields and as accurately as possible. Usernames and email addresses must not be offensive, racist, pornographic or provide advertising for other sites. Any violation will result in the immediate suspension of the account.
[Back]

Q : I have registered and not received a confirmation e-mail yet. What do I do?

A : Send an email to
admin, containing the username in the subject line of the email and from the email address that you registered with. It is important that you remember both, since we need this information to ensure we know who you are.
[Back]

Q : I have received my e-mail but still can’t log in. What do I do?

A : First make sure that you are using the right address. This should be
www.uo-auction2.com and NOT the old www.uo-auction.com. If this doesn’t solve your problem you should take a look at this. If all else fails and ONLY then please contact our tech admin coco.
[Back]

Q : Can I have more than 1 account?

A : No. UO-Auction only allows each user to have 1 account. There is no reason for a user to require more than 1 account, and any requests for a second account will be denied. The reason for this policy is to greatly lower the chances of auctions being grief bided on. Violating this will lead to suspension of the account.
[Back]

Q : I am registered but have forgotten my password/username. What do I do?

A : Contact one of the
staff members and they will sort it out. Remember to send the email from the address you registered with, and include any details that might be relevant.
[Back]

Q : I want to sell an item. How do I do this?

A : Take a look at the
"Help" section. It answers most questions about buying and selling. If you have any questions you are welcome to contact one of the staff members.
[Back]

Q : Where is the “Sell an Item” link?

A : Once logged in, the "Sell an item" link will appear at the top of the page, next to the "Home" link. Remember this link will only appear once you have logged in.
[Back]

Q : What am I allowed to sell on UO-Auction?

A : UO-Auction abides by the same rules as
Ultima Online, which means, that anything that is illegal in game is also illegal on UO-Auction. For a specific list of what is NOT allowed click here.
[Back]

Q : How do I know which category to place items in?

A : Most items are easy to place because we have a wide variety of categories, but for a specific list of what goes where click
here . If you have any doubts about where to put an item, please feel free to contact one of the staff members, and they will gladly help you out.
[Back]

Q : I have put an item for sale but the picture does not work.

A : To display a picture in an auction you will have to upload the picture to your own site and then link to the picture in your auction. Use either jpeg or gif format. Also remember that most free website hosting sites do not allow you to link directly to pictures held on their sites.
[Back]

Q : What is a reserve price?

A : A reserve price means that the item up for sale has a specific ending price and it will only be sold if that price is reached. If an auction shows "Reserve not met" then it means that the price the seller wants for that item hasn’t been reached yet.
[Back]

Q : What is a "buy now price"?

A : "Buy now" means that you have the option to buy the item straight away for the amount of money the sellers is asking in the "Buy now" field without having to wait for the auction to end.
[Back]

Q : I want to buy an item, how do I do this? A : Take a look at the "Help" section. It answers most questions about buying and selling. If you have any questions you are welcome to contact one of the staff member.
[Back]

Q : I can’t see where to enter my bid. A : When you enter the auction page of the auction you want to bid on, there is a field to the right where you can enter your bid.
[Back]

Q : It says my bid is not high enough, what does that mean?

A : If someone has placed a proxy bid that is higher than the bid your entering then you will be told that your bid isn’t high enough. You can either put in your own proxy (has to be higher than the existing proxy bid - no
grief bidding) - or you can choose not to bid on that auction after all.
[Back]

Q : What is a proxy bid and how does it work?

A : A proxy bid means that you enter the max amount you are willing to pay for the item and then the site automatically bids for you until your proxy has been reached or you win the auction. Every time someone bids on the same auction as you, your bid will automatically raise until someone else bids higher than you or you win the auction. This way you can enter the maximum amount of money you are willing to pay for the item the first time you bid and you won’t have to keep watching the auction for new bids. A proxy bid has to be a realistic bid, meaning that your maximum bid shouldn’t be higher than what you can afford to pay. If we suspect that a proxy is "too high", then the bid will be removed, and the users will be suspended. This is called
grief bidding and is not allowed.
[Back]

Q : I see a "Buy Now" button, what does this do?

A : The "Buy now" button lets you buy that items straight way for the amount the seller has put as the "buy now" price. Normally an auction runs over several days, but with the "buy now" you overrule this and win the auction straight away. The "Buy now" option disappears as soon as the first bid has been placed.
[Back]

Q : I have sold or won an item, how do I trade?

A : As soon as an auction ends, both the buyer and seller will receive an email containing any information about the auction including the sellers/buyers info. It is up to both parties to contact each other and arrange how the trade should be completed.
[Back]

Q : I won an auction and have not received confirmation e-mail.

A : If you didn’t receive a confirmation e-mail then you most likely didn’t win the auction. If the seller had a reserve price and it wasn’t reached, then you will not receive an email.
[Back]

Q : The seller/buyer is not available, how long should I wait?

A : To give everyone a fair chance, we recommend that you wait at least 7 days before leaving a negative feedback. However, if the item involved is a
house, then the trade HAS to be completed within 7 days. Failing to complete the trade will get the missing party suspended from the site.
[Back]

Q : The seller/buyer cannot complete trade, what should I do?

A : It all depends on the circumstances. If the item involved is a
house then you should report the seller/buyer to a staff member and they will suspend the person involved. If the seller/buyer can’t be reached then you should leave a negative feedback so we have this on record for future investigations. If the item has been lost/stolen or if there are any other reason for the deal not being completed then its up to you what should be done. You can either leave a negative feedback or work it out with the buyer/seller yourself. If you have any doubts about what to do, please feel free to contact one of the staff member .
[Back]

Q : What is a broker and how can they help me?

A
broker is a trusted staff member that can help you trade in a secure way. The broker will collect the item that is being sold/bought + the money for the item, and when in posession of both, swap them around to their new owners. This way there is no chance of getting scammed. Brokers claim a minor fee for helping with secure trades.
[Back]

Q : How do I leave feedback?

A : Start by logging in to UO-Auction, and then go to "Your control panel" at the top of the page . If you sold an item then go to "Winners contact info" and if you won an item then go to "Sellers contact info". In the "contact info" click the link of the auction and you will be taken to the auction itself. An option to leave feedback should now be available. Click the button saying "Leave feedback - Click here..". For a description of the different star values please click
here .
[Back]

Q : I try to leave feedback but cannot.

A : Either you already left feedback for this person, you are not logged in or you didn’t win the auction/nobody won your auction.
